Last year, the Meat Market Gallery established an exciting new annual event for
Washington, DC. Hosting an eclectic roster of new performances by visual artists from
major cities in and beyond the United States. The event aims to provide the
Washington, DC area with cutting edge performances and new to this 2008, increase
public knowledge and understanding of performance art through its academic
symposium. Performance Week 2008 highlights the importance and influence of
performance art in contemporary society.
Performance Week 2008, the second annual performance art event, will take place this
year from January 23- January 26, 2008, at 1840 14TH St. NW, in Washington, DC, with
a diverse lineup of surrounding Metropolitan area artists. In addition, artists from New
York, Austin, Texas, Chicago and Canada. Montreal, artist Stephan Schulz. On January
26th, 2008 the Meat Market Gallery will also host a closing party from 6-1pm. This year's
event also includes a panel discussion to increase public awareness and knowledge of
international and national contemporary performance.
Performance Week 2008 is a week of performances, screenings, films and lectures in
collaboration with The Pink Line, Civilian Art Projects, Goethe-Institut, Curatorʼs Office
and a whole host of other adventurous folks.
